ABOUT

Why Hummingbird?

Hummingbirds are tiny birds, but gram for gram they are amazingly strong, agile and fast. They are also adaptable, tenacious and feisty and their flight artistry seems to defy physics, with their wings moving in the figure of an infinity symbol; allowing them to fly straight up and down and backwards. This amazing little bird is a symbol of resilience, adaptability and independence. Its playfulness allows it to enjoy life and all it has to offer.

The hummingbird is the perfect symbol for the service we offer. Hummingbird Disability Services has at its core, a desire to assist people to believe in their own strengths, to look for new possibilities, to build resilience and independence and to above all, enjoy life!

Through our responsive, agile and adaptable approach we are here to support you to enjoy your best life and to explore infinite possibilities….. with a little playfulness along the way.

A Bit About Me – Ally Addison

As the Founder and Director of Hummingbird Disability Services, I am passionate about assisting people with disability live a fulfilled life. I love to help people realise their strengths and to help them focus on what is possible. I love hearing peoples’ story, getting to really know someone; then drawing from my knowledge and experience to assist them to become their best selves.

With over 20 years’ experience in multiple facets of the disability sector, I understand the industry and have a wealth of knowledge and experiences to draw from. Fresh out of university I started my career as a support worker in an accommodation and respite service. Within 3 years I was managing the operations of eight group homes and over 30 staff.

My passion for working in the disability sector further developed as I moved on to manage family support and case management services; working with families in intense crisis.

For the last 10 years I have worked for a large not for profit disability provider, managing several client engagement projects, managing the roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and leading the operations of therapy services for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions.

I am genuinely excited by the opportunities that the NDIS has created. I truly believe in and am committed to the overall premise of the scheme, to give people with disabilities more choice and control over their lives.

Thank you for choosing Hummingbird Disability Services to support you to get the most of the NDIS and the most out of your life.
